New Report Shows .INFO Domain Safest from Phishing Attacks

Global Phishing Survey results shows domain name registry protects Internet Users

DUBLIN, IRELAND - 13 May 2009 – Afilias, a global provider of Internet infrastructure services, today announced that a new Global Phishing Survey released by the Anti-Phishing Work Group (APWG) reveals that the .INFO domain is the generic top-level Internet domain (gTLD) safest from phishing attacks. The results of the Survey show that, during the second half of 2008, .INFO had the lowest phishing rates and the lowest average attack duration among the gTLDs measured. .INFO's phishing durations were half the world average.

Number of .INFO Domain Aftermarket Sales Spike in Q1 2009

Despite issues with the global economy, .INFO domain name aftermarket sales appear to be fairing well. According to DNJournal.com data, the number of aftermarket sales of .info domains jumped in the first quarter of 2009. Specifically, the number of .info aftermarket sales in February and March were nearly triple that of the same month a year ago.

According to DNJournal.com March 2009 industry proceeds from .INFO aftermarket sales totaled nearly $59,000. The highest selling name that month was VegasSlotCasino.info which sold for $6075 on Sedo.com.
